How To Introduce Yourself On Facebook

So… You want to start getting visible and gain followers?

Or maybe you want to finally break out and introduce yourself as the new business owner that you are on your social media?

BUT you are not sure how to nail a pleasant introduction without feeling salesy, slimy, or just plain awkward…

I mean, should I include my business in my introduction??

When is it "okay" to talk about my business on social media?

Hey, I'm Christi

a brand and website designer that has built a side income business from our small farm, while being a stay at home mom to two wee little ones!

(I must admit they are growing as fast as the weeds in my garden)

When I first discovered that I could create a business from home with my two little ones (they were both in diapers at the time), I remember feeling PARALYZED with fear when it came to social media posting and lived video!

For reals, I couldn't break the silence for months because it took that long to prepare myself mentally.

So… I wanted to create a post on my blog to help you rock your business introduction!

There are a couple of SUPER SIMPLE components we are going to cover today…

1|| the photo

2|| how to make it fun, authentic, and unique

The intro post example…

I'm going to share with you the outline I use for all my introduction posts, how to make it your own, PLUS how and where to use it!

This little outline has become a go-to and total time saver!

So… let's get to it!

Here is the post in photo form here:

Great! Now you got my sample post, let's talk about how and where to use it!

First off where do we use this post??

This is the post I use for introducing myself in groups I am new member to, or want to start getting active in OR I have even used it on my timeline and Instagram a couple of times just to give a little introduction to the new friends in my life!

As your audience grows you should re-introduce yourself occasionally!

Writing your post

Here you will find my post in black and suggestions for making it your own in the (____).

👋 hey new friends!

I'm Christi. My friends call me the crazy chicken lady. 😆 (INSERT A WEIRD THING THAT WILL STAND OUT, MAKE IT FUN, AND MAKE IT SHORT AND SWEET)

I began my journey as an entrepreneur as a style coach. (HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?)

After giving birth to my kiddos I quit my job and gave the new mom job my ALL. (WHAT LED YOU TO GETTING STARTED? WHAT WERE YOU STRUGGLING WITH THAT MADE YOU KNOW YOU NEEDED CHANGE?)

I lost myself.

Yoga pants and hiding from adult social events became my thing.

I soon realized I was ready for and NEEDED my next chapter in life.

It's still wild to think that only a couple years ago I would avoid human contact because I felt shame about who I was.... now I'm doing live video in front of hundreds and teaching others how to confidently stand out 😆🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ (HOW HAS LIFE CHANGED?/ SHARE A WIN)

How did your entrepreneurial journey start off? (ASK A QUESTION TO GET THEM ENGAGED)

Can't wait to get to know you all better 💗 (LEAVE IT WITH A NICE INVITATION)

IF YOU ARE POSTING TO A FACEBOOK COMMUNITY HOSTED BY SOMEONE ELSE… BE SURE TO ADD A THANK YOU TO THE END OF THIS POST… "Thank you to ____ for having me in your wonderful community"... TO THE HOST FOR THEIR COMMUNITY (COMPLIMENT THEM IN SOME FORM + TAG THEM… this will get the hosts eyes on your post which is always a great way to increase engagement on your post!)

To get the very best results with social media, read this:

Once you have posted your introduction post you will likely find yourself in another pickle…

Because it's going to take continuous posting of the right kind of content to generate sales on social media...

I learned the truth about social media sales the hard way.

The influencers who have a whole lot of followers and likes and post the super cute content…

They actually aren't always the ones earning money… cute content typically doesn't sell. Selling on social media is a balance and art between fun and light-hearted content and informational, thought-provoking, and gentle sales-oriented content.

It took me a couple of years to really understand this BUT once I mastered it… I found myself creating launches that generated 24 sales in 24 hours (without ads) and a booked out website and brand design calendar for MONTHS in advance.

It was pretty mindblowing as a mom of two littles working very part-time from home.

Then something AHMAZING happened!

As I started sharing about my social media and brand building techniques… THIS HAPPENED… to another stay at home mom!

Jessica over at Maple Oranges was able to go from a handful of sales total to shipments beyond her wildest dreams… in less than one year's time…

posting with intention

Before just throwing a bunch of stuff out there and hoping something sticks to your social media wall…

It is a great idea to determine some business goals for yourself…

asking yourself questions like…

  • What am I trying to "sell"? (my knowledge, my personality, my products, my customer experience etc.)

  • How can I reach my goal? (share tips, behind the scenes product process, a story that shares more about me etc.)
